Terms of use
Last updated October 2026 · plain-language draft
By using Breakout you agree to these terms. They're written to be read. If you disagree with any of them, please don't use the site.
1. Who can use Breakout
You must be 18 or older. Breakout is a free showcase for adult performers and the people who rate them. We may remove accounts that break these terms.
2. Free for performers
Performers never pay to enter, to be rated, or to be seen, and nothing can be bought that changes anyone's ranking. Nobody at Breakout will ever ask you for money in exchange for an audition, a role or exposure. If anyone does, it isn't us. Please report it to [email protected].
3. Your performance and your content
- You keep ownership of your performance. Your video stays on YouTube; Breakout shows it through YouTube's player.
- You give Breakout permission to display your video, stage name, city and bio on the site, to industry judges and to the public, for the challenge and in its published results.
- Only post a performance of you, of the speech we provide, that you have the right to share. No one under 18. Nothing unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, or that infringes someone else's rights.
- You can withdraw an entry while entries are open. Once voting starts it's locked, so ratings can't be undone by swapping a video.
3a. Profile pages
You may create a profile page for your performer account. It starts private, and you control who sees it. Profile text may not contain links, email addresses or social handles, and extra videos must be YouTube videos you have the right to share. We can hide a page that breaks these rules or the rest of these terms, and we may remove it without notice.
3b. Photos
- Only upload photos of you, that you took or have the right to share. You must be 18 or older and the only person who may appear as your main headshot.
- No nudity or sexual content, violence, hateful symbols, or anything unlawful. No photos of other people without their permission.
- Photos are checked automatically. A photo the check isn't sure about, or that someone reports, is hidden until a person reviews it, and we may remove it. We may also remove any photo at any time.
- If we find content that sexualizes a minor, we remove it and report it to the authorities as the law requires.
- Photos never affect scores. Ratings are about performances only.
3c. Messages
- Messages are for real conversations about acting and casting. Be respectful. No harassment, spam, or anything unlawful.
- Never ask anyone for money. Messages asking for payment, fees or deposits, or trying to move a conversation to another app, are blocked and may get your account removed. Real casting never asks actors to pay.
- A judge can start a conversation only with a performer whose entry they rated, after that challenge's results are published. A performer can start one only with a judge who has chosen to allow it. Nobody can message a judge or performer while that judge is judging the performer's entry.
- Either person can block, mute or report a conversation at any time. A Breakout administrator can read a conversation only if someone reports it, and messages are deleted after 90 days.
- We may remove messages and suspend accounts that break these rules.
3d. Managers, agents and conflicts
- A talent manager or agent may join as a judge, and may also have performers on Breakout. Either way, they must declare every performer they represent.
- No judge may rate, or be assigned to rate, a performer they represent. Declared conflicts are removed from assignments. An undeclared conflict is a breach of these terms and may lead to removal.
- Representing a performer does not give anyone extra visibility, ranking or messaging rights. Managers and agents follow the same messaging rules as everyone else.
- Breakout never charges actors to be represented, reviewed or ranked. Anyone who asks a performer for money in connection with Breakout, including a manager or agent, breaks these terms.
4. Fair play
Don't manipulate ratings. That includes using more than one account, trading votes, paying or pressuring people to vote, running scripts or bots, or trying to find out how others voted. We use automatic checks and human review, and we may exclude votes, remove entries and ban accounts. Our decisions on this are final.
5. Judges
Judges are verified by hand and rate honestly and independently. Judges don't rate people they know, and they aren't paid by or for any performer. Judges' ratings are never shown with their names; notes are shown by role only. A judge is named publicly only with their permission.
6. Ratings are opinions
Scores and notes are the opinions of individual people and a statistical summary of them. They aren't a guarantee about talent, a prediction of success, or an offer of work. Breakout is not a talent agency and doesn't represent anyone.
7. Reporting and takedowns
Anyone signed in can report an entry. To report infringement or unlawful content, email [email protected] with the link and what's wrong. We remove entries that break these terms. Breakout does not host videos; to remove a video entirely, also remove it from YouTube.
8. The site is provided as is
Breakout is a new, free service. We work to keep it running and fair but can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Breakout and its owner aren't liable for losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law that can't be limited.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date above will change and we'll note big changes on the site. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA. Questions: [email protected].
